Canton, NY – The Elmira College Softball team continued its winning ways splitting a pair of non-conference contests, 2-1 and 6-0, Tuesday evening against host St. Lawrence University. The Soaring Eagles improve to 19-9, while the Saints are now 16-13.
The first game proved to be a pitcher's duel as the teams combined for just three runs. Elmira got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning.
Krystal Bupp '14 led off with a bunt single down the first base line. With one out
Bupp stole second and after a second out
Mikayla Bean '14 singled to the pitcher as
Bupp moved over to third. After an error on a ball hit to right field
Bupp scored for what would prove to be the Purple and Gold's only run of the contest.
St. Lawrence tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth inning on an Elizabeth McGinley double to right center that plated Chelsea Cavellier. The Saints ended game one in thrilling fashion as Cavellier singled down the left field line scoring the walk-off run.
Alex Puglisi '14 gave up seven hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out four in the first game. Meanwhile, Kyle Plimpton surrendered four hits and no earned runs while giving three free passes and fanning five.

Katie Dore '15 tripled to right center field to put Elmira up 1-0 early.
Dore would continue to have a hot bat in the third inning as Elmira exploded for five runs.

Julianne Heggie '16 singled to center field and stole second.
Bupp once again bunted her way on base down the first base line plating
Heggie.
Bupp stole second base and scored after
Alex Andrade '13 reached on an error.
Ashley Palmer '16 laid down a terrific sacrifice bunt advancing
Andrade to second.
Hobson singled to right as
Dore stepped up to the plate with runners on the corner. The current EC Athlete of the Week then laced another triple to right center scoring both Andrade and Hobson as the Soaring Eagles led 6-0 after three and cruised to the victory.
Hobson pitched the complete game on the mound giving up just three hits and three walks while striking out four. McGinley earned the loss for the Saints giving up three hits and four earned runs. Plimpton stepped on in relief surrendering four hits and zero earned runs.
