Elmira, NY – Keith Bujak '15 of the Men's Tennis team and Mary Kate Gellerman '13 of the Women's Lacrosse team have been named Elmira College Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 28th.

Bujak compiled an impressive 4-0 record in two matches this week as the Men's Tennis team split against St. John Fisher and Hartwick. Despite the team dropping a heartbreaker, 5-4, on Tuesday to the Cardinals Bujak gritted out a third set tie break victory at fourth singles winning 7-6 (7-3), 0-6, 6-1. He also teamed up with Sam Pine '14 at first doubles to earn a 9-8 (7-4) victory.

On Saturday against Hartwick the sophomore cruised to victory at the fourth flight of singles, 6-3 and 6-1. He and Pine once again formed a formidable opponent at the first doubles position defeating the Hawk, 9-8 (7-3). The Lyndeborough, NH native finishes his first season with the Purple and Gold going 6-1 in Empire 8 singles play. The Men's Tennis team closes out its season today when it hosts Keuka College at the Murray Athletic Center beginning at 4:00 p.m.


Gellerman made 14 saves in 86 minutes of action on the week for Elmira. She played the entire game against Nazareth College on April 27, which proved to be an Empire 8 playoff play-in game, making 13 big saves as EC narrowly missed out on its first playoff appearance since 2006.
 
With one game remaining in the regular season the senior has made 78 saves while recording a 10.27 goals against average and .497 save percentage. The Purple and Gold will return to action today when they travel to Oswego State in their final 2013 regular season contest. Game is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
