Women’s Hockey Team Receives National Championship Rings, Honored by City of Elmira and State of New York



Elmira, NY – The Elmira College Women's Hockey team was honored by the City of Elmira and the New York State Legislature for their 2013 National Championship Thursday afternoon on the Elmira College campus. A formal ceremony followed where the members of the team received their national championship rings.

Members of the campus community gathered as dignitaries of the City of Elmira, the College as well as the state of New York honored the national champions. After Elmira College President Ron Champagne addressed the crowd Sharon Moore, Community Representative from Senator O'Mara's office, presented the team with the State of New York Legislative Resolution of Congratulations.


Elmira Mayor Sue Skidmore followed by recognizing the team's achievements and presented them with a plaque. Head Coach Dean Jackson then shared a few words with the audience before a formal presentation of the championship rings closed out the ceremony.

The national championship marks the third in Elmira College Women's Ice Hockey program history. The Soaring Eagles are now tied with Middlebury for the most NCAA Division III National Championships of any institution.
