Hodlofski Crowned E8 Defensive Player of the Week

Empire 8 Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Elmira College's defenseman-turned-goalkeeper, Jordan Hodlofski '17, was rewarded for his shutout of Nazareth College by earning Empire 8 Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday.

In his third career start as a collegiate netminder, Hodlofski blanked Empire 8 rival, Nazareth College, en route to a scoreless double-overtime draw with the Golden Flyers on Sunday, October 23rd. He needed eight saves, double his previous single-game high, to preserve the shutout. Hodlofski came up with one of many clutch stops in the final minute of regulation to force the extra sessions and added three more saves in overtime.

The Troy, Pennsylvania, native also started Elmira's midweek non-conference match at Medaille College on Tuesday, October 18th. He held the Mavericks scoreless for over 73 minutes, before Madaille tallied the only goal of the contest for a 1-0 win. He accumulated four saves against the Mavericks.

Hodlofski finished last week with a total of 12 saves, a .923 save percentage, and a goals-against average of 0.45 in 200 minutes of playing time. He'll go for his first career victory in the Soaring Eagles' regular-season home finale on Wednesday, October 26th, when EC battles King's College (Pa.). The non-conference game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at Campus Field.
