Lahey Claims ECAC West Player of the Week Honors

DANBURY, Conn. -- Second-year blueliner Meg Lahey '19 of the Elmira College women's ice hockey team has been named the ECAC West Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office this afternoon.

Lahey had a breakout weekend for the third-ranked Soaring Eagles, who earned a pair of lopsided victories over Chatham University at the Murray Athletic Center. The second-year defender finished with four points on two goals and a pair of assists.

She began the weekend with a three-point performance in a 7-1 win over the Cougars, a total that matched her entire scoring output from her rookie campaign. Lahey opened the contest with her first goal of the season just 5:25 into the opening period, before picking up assists on a pair of power-play goals. The three-point total was a career high, as were her two assists.

The following afternoon saw the Latham, New York, native produce her second goal of the weekend, one that came late in the first period of an 8-0 win. Lahey's goal capped her four-point weekend and moved her into a two-way tie for the season-lead in points with linemate Kristin Chivers '19 for defenseman scoring.

Lahey, who earned the first ECAC West accolade of her collegiate career, will look to continue her stellar play this weekend, as the Soaring Eagles travel to face Buffalo State. The first of two conference games is scheduled for Friday, November 18th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Bengals' home ice at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.
