Every Earns Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week Accolades

Empire 8 Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- After earning a spot on the Lexington Rochester Airport Hotel All-Tournament Team over the weekend, Elmira College freshman guard Jeremy Every '20 was selected as the Empire 8 Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Every's effort in the first round of the tournament allowed the Soaring Eagles to beat Vassar College, 76-67, and advance to the championship game. The 5-foot 11-inch guard played a season-high 30 minutes against the Brewers and he connected on five of his 11 field goals en route to a season-high-tying 12 points. He sparked EC's hot start by tallying six of the team's first eight points. In a span of less than two minutes midway through the half, he sandwiched a pair of buckets around one of his two assists.

A native of Sacramento, California, Every earned his second consecutive start the following afternoon in the Lexington Rochester Airport Hotel Tournament title game against the host Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester. He sunk 4-of-8 field goals and tallied nine points in addition to posting four rebounds and a season-high-tying three assists.

Every was one of Elmira's two representatives on the All-Tournament Team after concluding the weekend with 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. Through the first five games of his debut season, the rookie guard is averaging 8.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

The Elmira College men's basketball team will continue its season-opening road schedule with a non-conference contest in Canton, New York, against St. Lawrence University on Sunday, December 4th. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
