Clarke, Glover Crowned EC Athletes of the Week

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Audrey Clarke '18 of the women's golf team and Misi Glover '19 of the men's soccer team have been awarded for their outstanding efforts over the last week by earning Elmira College Athletes of the Week.

Clarke picks up the award following one of the best rounds of golf in program history on Sunday at the season-opening Utica College Invitational. At the always-difficult Yahnandasis Golf Club, the third-year Soaring Eagle carded a four-over par 77 on day two of the tournament. That score set a personal record for the lowest single-round posted by Clarke, while equaling the program record set by former NCAA Division III Championship Tournament qualifier, Tory MacNeil '08, for the lowest score versus par in EC history.

While the 77 is two strokes shy of MacNeil's all-time record for the lowest overall score for a round of 18, Clarke registered the third-lowest score for a 36-hole tournament at 161 (+15), placing her seventh overall at the Utica College Invitational.

Originally from Churchville, New York, Clarke will look to build off of her record outing in EC's next two-day tournament, the William Smith Invitational, beginning with the opening round on Saturday, September 17th.

Glover played a pivotal role in Elmira's 2-1 road victory over Hilbert College in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, the first win on the young season for the Soaring Eagles. The second-year defenseman played the entire 90 minutes on EC's back line, helping to limit the opposition to only one goal. He was also awarded a penalty kick in the fifth minute, which he converted, setting the tone early in the contest and giving the Purple and Gold a 1-0 advantage.

For Glover, the tally was the first of his collegiate career. The North Brunswick, New Jersey, native made 17 appearances during his rookie campaign in 2015, including eight starts. Glover recorded his first career point with an assist in a 1-0 win over St. John Fisher on October 31, 2015. He has started all three games this season for the Soaring Eagles, and has one goal on four shots.

The Elmira men's soccer team returns to action with another non-conference bout on Wednesday, September 14th. The Soaring Eagles will welcome the Rochester Institute of Technology to Campus Field in their 2016 home opener at 4:00 p.m.
