ECAC West Release

DANBURY, Conn. --
After opening the New Year with a big 6-3 win over SUNY Cortland at the Murray Athletic Center and tying nationally-ranked SUNY Geneseo on the road, Elmira College's Sal Magliocco '17 and Harry Kramer '20 have been crowned ECAC West Conference Goalie and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

After being sidelined since mid-November due to injury, Magliocco made a triumphant return to the cage to backstop EC's weekend run against the tough competition out of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). Against the Red Dragons on Friday, the senior netminder earned his second win of the season after making 31 saves, 25 of which came in the final two periods.

The following night in Geneseo, New York, Magliocco turned in one of his finest performances of the year, as he limited the nation's second-leading offense to a pair of goals in a 2-2 overtime draw. He turned aside a season-high 44 shots, the second-highest single-game total of his career, with 20 of those saves coming in the third and overtime periods to preserve the tie.

In the two games combined, the Soaring Eagles held the opposition scoreless on the power play, as both Cortland and Geneseo finished 0-for-5 with an extra skater thanks in part to the effort by Magliocco. Additionally, his 75 saves vaulted the Roslyn, New York native up the program's all-time saves chart, where he now ranks seventh with 1,606, after surpassing Gerard Muscat '90 (1,603) and two-time All-American Darren McDonald '13 (1,602).

Kramer extended his consecutive game point streak to four in a row with a trio of points over the weekend. The first-year blue liner assisted on a pair of goals in the victory over Cortland, while netting the eventual game-tying goal in the overtime draw versus Geneseo.

The product of Wexford, Pennsylvania, assisted on EC's first and final goals in the 6-3 triumph over the Red Dragons, as he set up both runs down the left-wing side from the defensive zone. It marked the second multi-point game of his rookie campaign, while tying his previous season high for assists.

In Saturday's tilt, Kramer momentarily gave the Purple and Gold a 2-1 lead over the No. 6/7-ranked Knights. Down by one, he and Spencer MacLean '20 registered a pair of unanswered goals, the latter off of the blade of Kramer at the 13:04 mark of the second period. It was the second goal scored by the 6-foot-2-inch defenseman this season.

Over the last four games, Kramer has accumulated six points with one goal and five assists. Going back even further, he has recorded seven points (2g, 5a) during Elmira's recent 4-1-1 run, which began with his first collegiate goal back on November 22nd in the victory over SUNY Potsdam. On the season, the standout skater is tied for first in the ECAC West with Stevenson University's Alfred Panelin-Borg among rookie defensemen with nine points (2g, 7a).

The EC men's ice hockey team is set to continue its non-conference slate with a pair of home contests against Curry College and No. 13 Salve Regina University on Friday, January 13th, and Saturday, January 14th, respectively. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
