Empire 8 Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Elmira College senior Cameron Prior '17 was recognized by the Empire 8 Conference as the first Men's Lacrosse Goaltender of the Week award winner of the 2017 season, as announced by the E8 on Monday afternoon.

Prior opened his senior campaign right where he left off as a junior, as the Malden, Massachusetts, native made 19 saves in EC's 11-9 loss to Neumann University on Friday, February 24th. His 19 saves are the most by any Empire 8 goalie through the first week of competition in 2017 and his seven ground balls were a team high in the season-opening bout.

Last season, the 6-foot-5-inch netminder finished seventh in all of NCAA Division III with a saves per game average of 17.15. Since taking over as Elmira's starting goalie at the end of 2015, Prior has made double-digit stops in 16 consecutive starts.

The Soaring Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 4th, when EC hosts the Wolves of Keuka College in the 2017 home opener. The non-conference matchup will be played at nearby Notre Dame High School at 1:00 p.m.
