Men’s Basketball Falls To No. 13 Centre

Lexington, VA -- The Elmira College men's basketball team (2-5) fell to No. 13 Centre College (9-1) 86-60 today. Hayden Harkins '18 led the Soaring Eagles going 4-for-5 from the three-point range to post a career-high 17 points in today's action.

David Borelli '15 led the team in rebounds with six and also added five points in the game while Oladapo Badmos '17, Gino Leonardi '17, and John Mullane '16 each chipped in with six points each. Tyler Dibble '15 set up the offense with five assists today.

The Generals started the game with a 7-3 run while Harkins responded with his first three-point bucket of the game to trail by one point. Centre would then score the next nine points of the contest to take a 16-6 lead. Leonardi would then drain a three-pointer of his own to put the Purple and Gold within seven points. Both teams would trade baskets until with 4:41 left in the first half when the Generals closed on a 16-4 run to take a 46-27 lead.

Centre kicked off the second half with a three-point shot while Harkins responding with three made free-throws in a row to trail by 19. However, the Generals continued to build their lead in the second half, extending it to 36 points with 10:52 left in the game. The Purple and Gold did not go down without a fight as EC finished the game with 23-13 run to fall 86-60.

Harkins was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts during the week.

The Soaring Eagles won't have much of a break as the EC men will compete next on January 2nd when the Purple and Gold travel to play against Empire 8 Conference foe Ithaca College at 8:00 p.m.
