Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Men's Basketball team takes on Ithaca College tonight at 8:00 p.m. in Speidel Gymnasium. Below is everything you will need to get ready for the contest.
Last Time Out: The Elmira College Men’s Basketball team downed Houghton on the road on Saturday, 63-55. EC opened up a 45-38 advantage with 8:35 remaining. Houghton responded with an 8-0 spurt to regain a 46-45 lead with 6:18 to play. The Purple and Gold retorted with a 10-1 run to take control of the contest up eight, and would win by that final margin.
Where We Sit: The Soaring Eagles (0-4 E8) currently sit at the bottom of the E8 standings, but have won two of their last four games as they look to build momentum in the second half of the season.
Who’s Hot: Josh Keys ’14 finished with a season-high 18 points in the win at Houghton. The guard shot 4-for-7 from the field, 3-for-6 from long distance, and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Consistent Cassidy: Chris Cassidy ’14 has been a monster as of late. Over his last two games the junior is averaging 26 points and nine rebounds per outing. Cassidy currently ranks third in the Empire 8 in scoring at 16.9 points per game.
Scouting Ithaca: The Bombers enter tonight’s contest 9-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. Ithaca is led by a prolific scorer of its own. Frank Mitchell ’14 averages 16.8 points per outing, which places him fourth in the conference.
Looking Ahead: The Soaring Eagles will take on host Utica at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in conference action.
