Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Men’s Basketball team hosts Hartwick tonight at 8:00 p.m. and Stevens Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in Speidel Gymnasium. Below is everything needed to get ready for the action.
Last Time Out: The Elmira College Men’s Basketball team downed visiting Houghton, 73-47, Tuesday night in Speidel Gymnasium.
Where We Sit: The Soaring Eagles (4-13 overall, 1-5 E8) are showing great progression as they have won four of their past seven contests. EC is yet to face Hartwick and Stevens this season.
Who’s Hot: Derrick Vogel ’14 and
Chris Cassidy ’14 both finished with double-doubles in the Soaring Eagles win over Houghton. Vogel finished with 16 points and a career-high 10 assists, while Cassidy tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year.
Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks (11-6, 3-3 E8) enter tonight’s contest on a four game winning streak after knocking off No. 20 Stevens at home on Tuesday. Junior Jared Suderley leads the Empire 8 in scoring at 19.0 points per contest.
Scouting Stevens: The Ducks (14-2, 5-1 E8) have won seven of their last eight contests. Stevens is led by three players who average more than 14 points per game. Seniors Sheldon Jones (15.6 PPG) and Russ Thompson (15.1) lead the Ducks, while sophomore Patrick Sabatino chips in 14.1 points per contest.
Looking Ahead: The Soaring Eagles will host St. John Fisher College at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1st as a part of Athletics Alumni Weekend in Speidel Gymnasium.
