Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College Women’s Basketball hosts Hartwick Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Stevens Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Speidel Gymnasium. Below is everything needed to get ready for the action.
Last Time Out: The Soaring Eagles upended visiting Houghton, 63-45, Tuesday evening in Speidel Gymnasium.
Where We Sit: The EC Women’s Basketball team enters Tuesday’s contest 6-11 overall and 1-5 in Empire 8 play. The Soaring Eagles broke a three game skid with the win over Houghton.
Who’s Hot: Liz Forrest ’14 is averaging 8.5 points and seven rebounds in her last two contests. She is now averaging 6.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per outing this season.
Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks (14-3, 6-0 E8) sits atop the conference standings half a game ahead of 6-1 Ithaca. Stevens is led by a balanced scoring attack that features three players averaging between 13 and 14 points per contest. Maria Foglia (13.9 PPG), Brittney Dumas ’16 (13. 9 PPG) and Kate Purcell ’14 (12.9 PPG) are all capable scorers for the Hawks.
Scouting Stevens: The Ducks (8-8, 5-3 E8) sit in fifth place in the conference standings after dropping a nail biter, 69-67 at Hartwick Tuesday evening. Stevens also features a balanced scoring attack with Avis Benjamin (12.6 PPG), Dylan Krause (12.0 PPG) and Miranda Ripken ’16 (11.8 PPG).
Looking Ahead: The Soaring Eagles will host St. John Fisher College Friday, February 1st at 6:00 p.m. in Speidel Gymnasium as a part of Athletics Alumni Weekend.
