Amber Myers enters her 19th year as the head Cheerleading coach at Elmira College in the 2024-25 academic year.
During the 2024 season, Elmira would finish runner-up for the second straight season in the Advanced Small Coed Division at the NCA National Championship in Daytona Beach. Elmira made monumental strides at the Championship, as Myers brought three teams to nationals for the first time in program history, including an All-Girl and Hip-Hop squads. Respectively, the Hip-Hop and All-Girl teams would finish 6th and 11th on the national stage. During the regular season, the Coed team would finish 1st at the Queen City Showdown, Upstate Collegiate Championship, Alfred University Cheer & Dance Competition, and the Justice League Championship. Additionally, All-Girl would finish 1st in all regular season events outside of the Alfred Cheer & Dance Competition, while Hip-Hop finished first at the Justice League Championship. On the Contemporary dance side, Elmira placed first at the Upstate Collegiate Championship, along with the Alfred Cheer & Dance Competition.
During the 2023 season, the Soaring Eagles would finish runner-up at the NCA National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. Competing in the Advanced Small Coed Division against other five other NCAA Division III programs, Elmira recorded a performance score of 87.3426 in the preliminary round before delivering an almost flawless routine on Friday as judges delivered a score of 91.4722 to raise Elmira's event score to 90.4398.
Myers led the Soaring Eagles to their third National Cheer Association (NCA) National Championship in 2022 as the Purple & Gold took home the title in the Advanced Small Coed Division. The national championship is the second for Myers after leading Elmira to a NCA Division II National Championship in her first year with the program. Myers has a proven record of success as she has led Elmira to ten top-five finishes at the NCA College Nationals. She has also guided Courtney Diehl ’12 and Katelyn Moore ’17 to EC Female Athlete of the Year Awards and has coached an impressive 18 NCA All-Americans.
In 2015, EC won the Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia, for the first time in program history. The 2016 Soaring Eagles squad repeated as Cheersport National Champions, and would go on to earn a third straight top-three finish at NCA College Nationals. In 2017, the Soaring Eagles took third at the NCA College Nationals, giving them seventh-straight top-five finishes. With a fourth place finish in 2019, EC has made it six consecutive top-four finishes on the grandest stage of them all.
Myers has served on the NYSPHAA Section IV Cheerleading panel for the last three years, is a former Elite Cheerleading instructor and has also done work for the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA). In 2005, she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Slippery Rock University.
