Mission Statement:
Elmira College Sports Medicine is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health, safety, and welfare of the student-athletes of Elmira College by ensuring a safe environment and providing them with the most expedient and comprehensive health care. This will be accomplished by the Sports Medicine staff providing professional leadership, counseling and education necessary to prevent, manage, rehabilitate, and return the student-athlete to athletic activity as soon as possible, in a safe and effective manner.

Philosophy:
The needs of the student-athlete will always be the first consideration for all members of the sports medicine staff. We will comply with the recommendations and guidelines as established by the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports, the credentialing statutes of the State of New York and the NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association).

Student-Athlete Clearance Process:
Prior to participation in intercollegiate athletics at Elmira College you must be cleared medically by the Sports Medicine staff. Clearance starts by all student-athletes completing the web based online forms by clicking the student health portal listed below. In addition, the first year (freshman & transfers) must submit a physical examination from your own licensed health care provider. The physical examination is required by both Sports Medicine and the college's health center. NCAA requires that the physical examination must be completed within 6 months of the student-athlete's first team practice or workout.

Upon arrival to campus you will be scheduled for a screening where the Sports Medicine staff will review your medical records and perform a few evaluations. Another date will be scheduled to attend an educational session and for first time student-athletes a pre-concussion baseline test.
