Hoboken, NJ -- The Elmira College women's volleyball took on two of the toughest teams in the Empire 8 Conference in Stevens Institute of Technology and Houghton College. Unfortunately for Elmira, the Soaring Eagles would be unable to depart Hoboken, NJ with a win as EC dropped both matches. Elmira will be back in action this Wednesday, September 24th when the EC women travel to take on Alfred State at 7:00 p.m.

Elmira College 0, Stevens Tech 3 -- 25-19, 25-15, 25-9The Soaring Eagles fell to tri-match host Stevens Tech in the opening match of the day, 3-0. Elmira played a competitive first set but struggled in the next two as the Purple and Gold were limited to 24 points in the final two sets. Third-year setter

Match Two Recap
Elmira College 0, Houghton College -- 25-22, 25-19, 25-21Elmira's second match of the day was a very competitive one despite the final result being a 3-0 defeat. The Soaring Eagles nearly stole the first set from the Highlanders of Houghton. After trailing 22-15, Elmira won seven of the next eight points to bring the score to 23-22. However, Elmira would be unable to capitalize on their comeback as Houghton won the next two points to take the set, 25-22.
In the second set, Elmira battled with the Highlanders, even holding a two-point lead at 14-12 and then a one-point lead at 15-14. From there, Houghton won the next five points to take a four-point lead but again Elmira held tough, and would bring the score to 20-19, trailing the Highlanders but just one point. Elmira was again unable to complete the comeback at Houghton won the next five points, claiming the second set 25-19.
The third set was controlled by Houghton in the early stages as the Highlanders took a 10-3 lead but Elmira would chip away at the lead and would trail by just one point at 22-21. Elmira saw the third set come to a close in a similar fashion as the second as Houghton won the final three points to win the set, and the match.
Hanes once again orchestrated the Elmira attack, registering 23 assists. Defensively,
