Northfield, VT -- In a matchup that featured a pair of nationally ranked teams at the premier season-opening tournament in the country, the East-West Classic, it would be No. 6 Adrian College that would skate away with a 4-1 win over No. 2 Elmira College.
Adrian got off to a fast start in tonight's contest, as the Bulldogs outshot the Soaring Eagles 12-to-3 in the opening stanza. Kaylyn Schroka and Michelle Jones scored goals for Adrian at the 12:50 and 17:44 marks of the first period to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs tacked-on two more in the second period with a pair of goals just 15 seconds apart from each other. Elmira would outshoot Adrian 7-to-6 in the period but were unable to find the back of the net, as Adrian carried a four-goal advantage into the third period.

Louisa Lippiatt Durnell '18 scored a shorthanded goal at the 13:29 mark. Assisting on EC's season-opening goal was Captain

Lippiatt Durnell's goal cut the Bulldog lead to three but that would be as close as Elmira would get, as Adrian claimed a 4-1 season-opening victory.
Turning PointElmira had five power-play opportunities in today's contest but the Soaring Eagles were unable to convert on any of their chances. Last season, Elmira scored on 28.2 percent of their power-play opportunities and had just two games without a power-play goal with five or more chances.
