Randolph Scores 1,000th Point as Men’s Basketball Falls at St. John Fisher

Pittsford, NY -- Neil Randolph '15 became the 16th player in Elmira College men's basketball history to record 1,000 career points in EC's 82-66 loss at St. John Fisher College. Randolph concluded the game with 20 points, giving him a total of 1,017 for his career.

Randolph was second on the team in scoring behind sophomore guard, Oladapo Badmos '17. Badmos had 21 points and also added four rebounds and four assists to his scoring total. Randolph and Badmos were the only two Soaring Eagles in double figures as EC received scoring contributions from 10 players in all.

Randolph entered tonight's game needing just three points to reach 1,000 career points and accomplished that feat just 1:13 into the contest with Elmira's opening basket. Randolph's three-pointer helped the Soaring Eagles get off to a strong start as they led 11-6 just over six minutes into the game. St. John Fisher, however, would use the next five minutes of the game to outscore the Purple and Gold 13-0 to open up an eight-point lead.

EC's deficit grew to 13 points, 26-13, with 6:15 remaining in the opening half, but four quick points from Badmos brought it back to single digits. That was short-lived as St. John Fisher used a 14-9 run over the final five-plus minutes to take a 40-26 halftime advantage.

The Purple and Gold fell into a deeper hole over the course of the first nine minutes of the second half, trailing 61-40 with 11:23 to play. EC, however, would rally, using a 20-7 run over the next six minutes to make it just an eight-point game. Elmira would be held scoreless for the next two-plus minutes as St. John Fisher used a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach. EC would eventually fall 82-66 to the Cardinals.

The Soaring Eagles return home to take on another Empire 8 Conference opponent in Nazareth College, tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
