KEUKA PARK, N.Y. --
Despite holding a pair of two-goal leads in tonight's road matchup, the Elmira College field hockey team fell in non-conference action to Keuka College by a 5-4 final score in overtime. Highlighting Elmira's efforts this evening was freshman Janie Kempf '21, who produced her first career hat-trick and the second multi-goal game of her debut season.

Keuka led in shots, 17-15, but shots on goal finished tied as both sides placed 11 apiece on frame. Penalty corner chances were also in favor of the Wolves, 8-5.

Elmira jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes of regulation play, as Atu Machika '18 and Janie Kempf '21 scored goals less than two minutes apart. Machika opened the game's scoring at the 5:34 mark, while Kempf padded the Purple and Gold's lead to two with her first of three goals at 7:31. Both EC tallies were assisted by senior Katie Carroll '18.

With the first half coming to a close, Keuka's Nicole Wilson breathed life back into the Wolves by scoring what turned out to be her first of three goals at the 22:36 mark. Rielly Albee was credited with an assist on the goal, which closed out the first-half scoring.

Keuka's Hannah Moon tied the contest at 2-2 just 3:53 into the second stanza with her third tally of the season. Wilson picked up an assist on Moon's goal.

The score remained knotted at two apiece until the 47:02 mark, when Kempf put the Purple and Gold out in front, 3-2, with her second tally of the night. Just about 10-and-a-half minutes passed until Kempf registered her third goal of the evening, and team-leading ninth of the season, which handed the Soaring Eagles their second two-goal lead of the night. Senior Megan Brain '18 picked up an assist on Kempf's third and final goal of the contest.

Elmira's two-goal advantage lasted for just 1:05, as Albee found the back of the cage for the first time this season at the 58:38 mark, trimming Elmira's lead to 4-3. Wilson once again had a hand in the scoring play, as she picked up her second assist of the contest.

Despite Albee's goal, Elmira was just 3:34 away from its third victory of the season, but unfortunately Wilson struck again down the stretch and leveled the match at 4-4. Wilson's goal would eventually force overtime and 12:04 into the extra period, she once again found the back of the cage with her third goal of the evening to propel the Wolves to a 5-4 win. Brianna Harris was credited with an assist on the game-winning goal.

Elmira's Kempf finished the contest with six points on a trio of goals, while Machika added two points on one goal. Carroll was credited with a pair of assists to give her two points on the night, while Brain registered one point on one assist. In goal, Julie Hockenberger '18 made six saves in 82:04 of action.

Keuka's Wilson had a hand in all five of the team's goals, as she ended the contest with eight points on three goals and two assists. Albee logged three points on one goal and one assist.
