PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- After an exciting four-goal first period split evenly between No. 5/5 Elmira College women's ice hockey and No. 7/8 Oswego State, neither team was able to break through for a third tally, as the two ECAC West Conference rivals skated to a 2-2 overtime tie.

Oswego's Jacquelin White opened the game's scoring at the 8:15 mark, as she followed up a shot by Olivia Ellis. The shot from Ellis came from the left faceoff circle and was padded away by Elmira's
Kelcey Crawford '18, but the rebound leaked out into the slot where White backhanded it in for the score.

White struck again less than two minutes later with a tip-in from just outside the crease. Alexa Aramburu began the play by wrapping around the Elmira cage, before sending a pass to Ellis in the high slot. Ellis sent a wrist shot towards the net, but White re-directed it into the netting to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead at the 10:09 mark.

It took Elmira a little over three minutes to cut the Oswego lead to one, but the goal was worth the wait, as
Maddy Jerolman '19 scored on the rush at 13:20. After receiving a pass from
Rachel Grampp '18, Jerolman raced past a handful of Oswego defenders and into the offensive zone. Jerolman carried the puck into the right faceoff circle before snapping the puck over the right shoulder of Oswego's Amber Samonek and into the upper left corner for the score.

Four seconds after the Jerolman goal, Oswego's Andrea Noss was whistled for a face-off violation, putting EC's power-play unit on the ice for a second time. Elmira wasted little time with the extra skater, as
Sarah Hughson '18 scored her second goal in as many days to level the contest at two apiece.

Jerolman began the scoring play by taking the puck into the high slot, before sending a shot towards the cage. The shot attempt caromed off of an Oswego defender's skate and over to
Johanna Eidensten '17 in the left faceoff circle. From there, Eidensten quickly shoveled the puck over to Hughson, who one-timed it past Samonek for the score.

Hughson's goal held up through the end of the first period, and despite a lopsided shot count in favor of the Soaring Eagles, would be the final goal of today's game. EC outshot the Lakers 14-to-5 in the second stanza and 25-to-13 for the remainder of the contest, but was unable to break through for a game-winning score, as today's bout ended in a 2-2 overtime tie.

Turning Point
After falling behind by two scores midway through the first period, Elmira responded in a big way with back-to-back goals in a 34-second span to knot things up at 2-2. The Soaring Eagle goals came just 3:11 after Oswego's final tally from Jacquelin White. Elmira looked to push on for a game winner in the final two periods by outshooting the Lakers, 23-to-11, but Oswego's Amber Samonek denied EC on all 23 chances to keep the game tied through regulation.
