HERSHEY, Pa. --
The third-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey team cruised to a 9-0 victory against United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) foe Lebanon Valley College on Saturday in the 2018 Dutchmen Outdoor Classic, hosted on Saturday at an outdoor rink at Hersheypark Stadium on a balmy 50-degree afternoon.

EC opened the two-game league series by logging a season-high 87 shots on goal, en route to the lopsided win. Seven different Soaring Eagles netted a goal, led by Emma Crocker '21 and Maddy Jerolman '19 with two goals apiece. Of the 13 skaters who recorded a point for Elmira, Sarah Hughson '18 notched game highs with four points and three assists.

In addition to Crocker (2g-1a), Jerolman (2g), and Hughson (1g-3a), Louisa Lippiatt Durnell '18 (1g-1a) and Katie Granato '19 both finished with multiple points against the Dutchmen.

Lebanon Valley goalie Jill Moffatt did all that she could to slow down the Purple and Gold. The conference's leader in saves added 78 to her total, giving her a whopping 819 on the year. She made 28 consecutive stops to keep EC off of the board until the 15:16 mark of the first period when Meghan Fonfara '18 posted the game's first goal. Less than two minutes later, Crocker doubled the lead at 2-0 before the first intermission.

Four of Elmira's goals were scored in the middle period, beginning with one of Jerolman's two shorthanded tallies. Hughson and Durnell then scored back-to-back goals in a span of 17 seconds, turning the game into a rout at 5-0.

Rookies Crocker and Jess Adams '21 both deposited goals past Moffat in the third period. Fellow freshman Bella Hanson '21, who suited up for the first time this season after recovering from a preseason injury, picked up the first point of her career with the secondary assist on Adams' goal. While the Class of 2021 went to work in the offensive zone, Elizabeth Hanson '21 entered in relief of Kelcey Crawford '18 in the third period and was forced to make just one save to preserve the shutout.

In Their Own Words...
Head Coach Tim Crowley on playing outside, as part of the 2018 Dutchmen Outdoor Classic...
"It was a great experience for us and its something not everyone gets a chance to do."

Coach Crowley when asked about Maddy Jerolman's performance on the penalty-kill unit...
"She was hard on pucks, especially on the penalty kill, which resulted in some opportunities for her on the offensive side."

Coach Crowley on Sarah Hughson reaching another milestone in her senior year by surpassing the 30-point mark on Saturday...
"She's been such a good player all year. She works hard every opportunity and it's resulted in her getting the production she has had."
