ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The 2017-18 season came to a close this afternoon for the Elmira College women's golf team, as the Soaring Eagles claimed a second-place finish at the EC Spring Invitational. EC's second place finish tied the team's best result of the season, which took place at the Utica College Invitational at the always-challenging Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, New York.
Elmira produced a team score of 425 (+141), just four strokes better than third-place finishers, Nazareth College. The Wolves of Keuka College took home today's team title with an impressive score of 377 (+93). American International College's Paulette Romero was this afternoon's medalist with an 84 (+13), four strokes ahead of second-place finishers Holly Reynolds and Shannon Sprague of Keuka.
Audrey Clarke '18 was Elmira's top finisher this afternoon with an 18-hole score of 99 (+28). Challenging course conditions, which featured lightning-quick greens, posed a difficult task for Clarke on the front nine holes. Clarke carded a 58 on the front nine, but bounced back nicely on the backside of the Elmira Country Club with six pars to card a 41. The 17-stroke turnaround helped the Churchville, New York, native claim sixth place in the final event of her collegiate career.

Alyssa Ogden '18, who took home seventh place with a 103 (+32). Rounding out EC's golfers were
Sarah Hiltbrand '19 and
Cassie Chun '18, who finished in 10th and 12th place, respectively. Hiltbrand carded a 111 (+40) and Chun ended the day with a 112 (+41).
