LATHAM, N.Y. --
For the second consecutive weekend, the Elmira College men's tennis team secured a 9-0 win over an Empire 8 Conference opponent, this time blanking The Sage Colleges on the road at the Tri-City Tennis Facility in Latham, New York.

Following last weekend's shutout of Utica College and Saturday's one-sided win over the Gators, the Soaring Eagles are off to an undefeated start against conference opponents, opening the E8 schedule 2-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.

EC's night began with three wins in doubles competition, including identical 8-1 triumphs by the No. 1 tandem of Patrick Tracey '18 and Stephen Gervase '20, and the No. 2 team of Yaniv Kogan '18 and Jordan Curtis '19. The third team, consisting of rookies Zackarie Stedge '21 and Frank Endieveri III '21, beat Sage junior Sebastian Vickers and freshman Mitesh Joshi by a score of 8-3 for their first win of the year as a duo.

In singles play, the Soaring Eagles won 73 of 86 games played en route to six more wins. Tracey and Stedge both recorded unblemished 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Kogan's 6-0, 6-1 victory over Christian Rosario in the second slot marked his first singles win of the year in three tries, and Gervase topped Sage's Zaheer Ahmad at third singles by the same score.

Ravi Chauma '21 won over Vickers at sixth singles by set scores of 6-2, 6-1, and the match concluded with Curtis' 6-2, 7-5 victory against Caleb Noel at in the fourth spot in the lineup.

In Their Own Words...
Head Coach Rob Clayton on winning consecutive Empire 8 matches by scores of 9-0...
"It's starting to feel like a lot of our hard work is paying off. We've used a lot of our matches up until this point as learning opportunities to grow our games in preparation for our stiffest conference competition. Additionally, I'm proud of how each and every player has been competing. It's all about the progress."

Coach Clayton when asked about Jordan Curtis enduring a grueling second set to secure a straight-set win...
"Jordan was the marathon man tonight. He had a least one verified rally of at least 1-6 shots."
