PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- No. 1/1-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey left little doubt in this evening's United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest, as the Soaring Eagles shutout visiting William Smith College by a 4-0 final score. With the win, Elmira extended its win streak to eight games and mathematically has qualified for the UCHC Tournament.

A total of 10 skaters logged points for the Soaring Eagles, two of which finished with a pair. Eliza Beaudin '22 (1g-1a) and Maddy Jerolman '19 (0g-2a) each recorded two points. Katie Granato '19, Ariella Haas '22 and Tristen Tolan '21 each scored once for the Purple and Gold, with Granato's goal coming on the power play and finishing as the game-winner.

Amanda Zenstein '22, Kiana Melvin '20, Emma Crocker '21, Jess Adams '21 and Ronnie Callahan '21 each logged one assist apiece to round out Elmira's point-scorers.

In goal, Stephanie Martin '22 posted the sixth shutout of her rookie campaign by making 14 saves. With the win, Martin improved to 12-1-1 on the year.

A penalty on William Smith's Jules Kennedy proved to be a key moment in the first period, as the Soaring Eagles capitalized just 13 seconds into the power-play opportunity. A pass from behind the cage from Beaudin found Granato in the slot, where she one-timed the puck through traffic for the game-opening goal at 14:39. Melvin was also credited with an assist on the game-opening power-play goal.

Elmira added a pair of goals in the second stanza to extend the lead to 3-0. Beaudin logged her second point of the evening by scoring just 1:24 into the period. Beaudin's goal came on the rush, as passes from Jerolman and Crocker set up the scoring play.

Haas scored her seventh of the season at 7:39 to make it a 3-0 Elmira lead. A pass from Jerolman set Zenstein up for a hammer shot from the point. Zenstein's shot was tipped in by Haas, who was camped out in front of the net.

In the third period, Elmira controlled the pace of play, which yielded the team's fourth goal. Scoring for the Soaring Eagles was Tolan, who notched her fourth goal of the year at the 15:46 mark. Tolan's goal came on the rush, as an outlet pass from Adams connected with Callahan, allowing the second-year forward to dish it to Tolan, who found the top-shelf for the final goal of the game.

In His Own Words…
Head Coach Tim Crowley reflects on Elmira's win…
"It's always important to start off the game how we did today. We had good energy and it carried throughout the game. Our depth showed today and we were able to get every line to chip in. Our d-core has been great with their reads and when they play that way it helps get everyone going because we're not defending long."
