Men's Basketball Ends Weekend Road Trip at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's basketball team wrapped up its two-game Rochester road trip with a 75-62 Empire 8 Conference loss at Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon.

For the Soaring Eagles (1-17, 0-7 E8), second-year forward Rashaad Nurse '22 continued to score at a torrid rate. The pride of Queens, New York, who netted a team- and career-high 20 points last night at St. John Fisher College, equaled that mark with 20 more on 9-of-15 (60.0%) shooting against the Golden Flyers (13-4, 5-1 E8). Nurse is quickly establishing himself as one of the premier post players in the conference and has now eclipsed double-digit points in eight consecutive games.

Off of the bench, first-year guard David Kruis '23 tallied 10 points, including a 4-for-5 showing from the line. Fellow rookie Harry Ravitz '23 totaled seven points, while Shawn Backus '21 added five points. Backus and Brendan Hyde '22 each hauled in six rebounds, as both Elmira and Nazareth collected 40 in the contest.

As a team, Elmira shot an even 40.0% (24-of-60) from the field and 70.0% (14-of-20) from the foul line. However, for the first time this season, the Soaring Eagles failed to find their target from 3-point range, going 0-for-12 from deep.

Four players reached double figures for the Golden Flyers, led by Zach Stenglein with a game-high 19. Kevin Underwood and Stephen Gabel each scored 12 points en route to double-doubles with 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
