Alicia Johnson '22 were honored as part of Senior Day festivities before the Elmira College women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon. The Soaring Eagles closed their season with a 71-46 loss against Hartwick inside Speidel Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both teams struggled to get things going offensively in the first quarter as Elmira opened the scoring with
Nevaeh Winston '25 finishing a layup in the paint. Hartwick would take a 6-3 advantage before Albrecht and Winston connected on back-to-back buckets to make it 7-6 with 5:57 left on the clock.
Elmira's lead extended to 11-6 after
Taylor Jung '25 drained a 3-pointer and Albrecht hit one of two free throw shots. Hartwick would rally over the final 3:28 of the frame and limit EC to just a single point while gaining a 13-12 lead.
Hartwick would lead by as many as seven points early in the second quarter as the Hawks used a 6-0 rally to take a 19-12 advantage. The Purple & Gold answered with a 4-0 run that trimmed the deficit to 19-16 following a jumper from Winston. EC closed the gap to 21-20 after
Desiree Roy '25 hit a jumper in the paint but would see the Hawks pull away one more time.
The Hawks closed the quarter on an 11-0 run and would take a 32-20 lead into the locker room as Hartwick held Elmira scoreless over the final 3:58 of action. Hartwick went 6-of-16 from the field in the frame, while Elmira shot 3-of-17 from the field.
The Soaring Eagles looked to rally in the second half but would be unable to cut the deficit to single digits against the Hawks. EC hit back-to-back shots as
D'Asia Jones '25 and Jung pulled the Soaring Eagles within 11 of Hartwick before the gap would stretch to 17 points with just over two minutes left to play. Winston hit the final layup before the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter as the Hawks would take a 54-38 lead into the fourth quarter.
Hartwick closed the contest by outscoring Elmira 17-8 in the fourth quarter and would go 7-of-19 from the field. Winston paced Elmira in the contest and finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Albrecht added 11 points and 12 rebounds in her final game wearing Purple & Gold. Jung added eight points and six rebounds off the bench for the Soaring Eagles.
