ERIE, PA. -- The Elmira College cheerleading team continued its stretch of strong performances as the Soaring Eagles were awarded Grand Champions at Spirit Against Cancer that was hosted by Penn State Behrend on Saturday. 

Elmira secured its third consecutive first-place performance as the Purple & Gold scored an 85.5 out of a possible 90 points competing in the All-Girl College Advanced bracket. The Soaring Eagles secured their second straight Grand Champion title after recording the highest score throughout the entire competition on Saturday. 

The Soaring Eagles Danceline team notched a pair of first-place performances on the day as EC placed first in Jazz and later earned the top-spot in Hip Hop.

The Soaring Eagles will head to Albany, N.Y. on Saturday to take part in the CheerSport competition hosted by the University of Albany.
