ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Elmira College Men's Soccer team would succumb to a pair of first half goals in the Empire 8 Championship contest against St. John Fisher on Saturday evening. After the first two shots of the contest put on net for Cardinals worked its way in for goals, the Purple & Gold would battle in the second half to a scoreless frame, coming up short in its 2-0 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team would gain an offensive advantage in the first 13 minutes of the contest until Fisher earned a throw-in within its defensive end. After working it towards midfield, Trevor Heschke would find a path around an Elmira defenseman, firing the ball up to Riley Rease, who saw himself in a one-on-one opportunity, forcing Elmira goaltender Juan Carlos Cruz Gandia '27 out of the box, where the ball was touched by for the match-opening goal.
- With 28 minutes remaining in the first half, Elmira saw its first true chance of the ballgame after some back and forth in its offensive zone forced Fisher goaltender Christian Burkhart slightly out of the box, but Pietro Gallina '26 would put a shot high as Fisher avoided the potential equalizer.
- After taking it down the other way just under 90 seconds later, the Cardinals would extend its lead to 2-0 on just its second shots on goal for the contest, as Joey Avallone scored past Gandia on assists from Rease and Jack Tamburino.
- With just under eight minutes remaining in the first half, Elmira would see a pair of corner kicks, but were unable to find the back of the net.
- In the first half, each team posted a pair of shots on net, with Fisher executing on both ends of theirs. Additionally, each team was awarded a trio of corner kicks.
- In the second half, Elmira would see its first true opportunity on goal with just over 32 minutes remaining, as Horacio Vicioso '26 shot to the lower-left hand side of the goal, but it would be Burkhart who would make the save.
- For the contest, Elmira would lead the shots battle 15-11, including a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. With each team earning four corner kicks, Fisher would hold the advantage in fouls, as Elmira committed 18 to Fisher's three.
