HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – Elmira baseball returned to the Holding Point Recreation Complex for its first home game of the season on Friday afternoon when they welcomed the Wolves of Keuka College to town. A Gabe Fellows '25 three-run home run put the Purple & Gold on the board in the second inning, and Jack Finnerty '23 went on to spin a gem, tossing seven innings while allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight. The Soaring Eagles would wrap up the game in seven innings, taking the 11-1 victory over Keuka.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira's first run of the game came after a two-out rally in which Connor Stone '26 walked and Xander Canfield '26 reached on an error, putting two runners on base with Fellows coming to the plate. The junior second baseman would launch a ball deep to right field, clearing the fence and putting EC up 3-0.
- The Wolves threatened to respond in the following inning, loading the bases with just one out. However, Finnerty fanned the following two batters, leaving Keuka scoreless heading into the bottom of the third.
- Elmira responded in the third inning by loading the bases as well. The Soaring Eagles plated another thanks to a walk by Stone, bringing home Matteo Salvati '25 for their fourth run of the ballgame.
- The Wolves began the fourth with a solo home run, cutting Elmira's lead to three runs. After the following two runners reached, Finnerty notched another strikeout before a double play got the Soaring Eagles out of the inning.
- The Purple & Gold tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth when Canfield drove in AJ Ramirez '27 after his first of two triples on the afternoon, bringing the score to 6-1.
- Kaden Bolt '26 got Elmira started in the sixth inning with a leadoff single before Brett Warden '25 doubled to put the two runners in scoring position with no outs. Salvati drove in Bolt with a fielder's choice, and Erik Charnetski '24 brought Warden home on a sacrifice fly to make it an 8-1 game. Ramirez drove in one more in the inning on his second triple in as many innings, giving Elmira an eight-run lead entering the seventh.
- After a 1-2-3 inning from Finnerty in the top half, the Soaring Eagles would score two in the bottom of the seventh. Warden drove in the first on an RBI double before he came around to score the game-sealing run on an error.
- Finnerty tossed 91 pitches in total through seven innings, giving him the complete game.
- Warden led the squad with three hits in four at-bats while drawing a walk.
