Department of Athletics COVID-19 Policy for Student-Athletes:
The Elmira College Department of Athletics has announced the following COVID-19 policy based on recommendations of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference and the NCAA. This policy is subject to be altered due to the immunity and transmission rate in our community.
Fully Vaccinated Athletes: (Fully Vaccinated – 14 days after the last shot)
- There will be no routine scheduled testing for fully vaccinated athletes. The college will be randomly testing students and staff through the year and all athletes will be part of this testing program. An athlete will be tested only if they are showing signs and symptoms of COVID-19.Â
- Masking will be required in locker rooms, athletic training rooms, meeting rooms, on the bench for indoor activities, on buses, vans and at away facilities per that institutions policy. (If the entire team, coaches and staff are vaccinated, the masking requirement may be changed.)
Not fully or Non-Vaccinated Athletes:
- Will be tested at least 1 time a week.
- Will be tested 24-48 hours before an away contest
- Masking will be required for indoor sports:
- At all times and while on the bench
- Will not be required while playing
- Masking required for outdoor sports
- In all indoor facilities used before the game
- Will not be required on the bench or while playing
- Masking will be required on buses and vans
These policies are subject to change if the community immunity and transmission rate changes.
Away Games:
- Testing and masking may be different when traveling. Our teams will follow the policies set by the home institution.
