Former Elmira College cross country runner, Jonathan Muller '18, was named the first head coach of the College's esports program prior to its inaugural season during the 2019-20 academic year. Muller also helped the program transition from club status to become a varsity program under the direction of the College's Department of Athletics in January of 2020.
Muller was a four-year member of the EC men's cross country team. He was named to the Empire 8 Conference Sportsman of the Year Team at the end of the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He logged his best times at the five-, six-, and eight-kilometer distances during his senior year.
After graduating with a double-major in International Studies and Anthropology in June of 2018, the Galway, New York, native enrolled in graduate school at EC and is currently pursuing a Master's in Education.
