Zack Ciaramitaro '14 was named Elmira College's Director of Esports in January of 2020 and assumed head coaching duties for the 2020-21 season. Ciaramitaro, who continues to serve as a Senior Client Support Administrator in the College's Information Technology Department, oversees all operations of the esports program, which was recently elevated to varsity status.
Ciaramitaro is no stranger to the Elmira College community. After graduating from EC with a double-major in Criminal Justice and Psychology in the summer of 2014, he joined the College's IT department, first as a Multimedia and Audio Visual Specialist. He was then promoted to Client Support Specialist in 2017 while completing his master's degree in Education at Elmira, before being elevated to his current role in the spring of 2019. As a Senior Client Support Administrator, Ciaramitaro is responsible for network administration, software deployment, and maintaining and troubleshooting over 500 wireless access points, among other duties.
Affectionately known as "Shimmy," Ciaramitaro helped build Elmira's esports program from the ground up, literally. He custom built the six gaming machines that reside in the newly-renovated esports lounge during the summer of 2019 alongside fellow IT administrator and EC alumnus, Dylan Crawford '16.
A passionate gamer and avid streamer in his free time, Ciaramitaro enjoys playing titles such as Destiny 2, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., the Halo series, Apex Legends, God of War, and Uncharted. He annually attends Gaming Community Expo, or GCX, a national gaming conference that utilized the community aspect of gaming to come together and raise millions for charitable causes.
