Kelsea Martalock enters her second season with the Elmira College women's ice hockey team and her first season as the head coach of the Soaring Eagles in the 2016-17 academic year.
Martalock became the fifth women's ice hockey coach in the program's 15-year history, after the Soaring Eagles produced their fifth consecutive 20-win season in her first year as an assistant with Elmira in 2015-16.
That same year, the Soaring Eagles peaked at No. 2 in the nation rankings en route to an NCAA Division III Final Four appearance. After dropping an overtime heart-breaker in the semis, EC defeated No. 4 Middlebury to claim the NCAA Third-Place Trophy. With Martalock on the bench for the Purple and Gold, Elmira pieced together an outstanding 15-0-1 midseason unbeaten streak and finished with 20-or-more wins for the fifth straight season at 23-5-1. She was also instrumental in helping first-year blue liner Kristin Chivers '19 claim ACHA First-Team All-America and D3hockey.com Second-Team All-America honors, becoming the first EC rookie to take home First-Team All-America accolades since Laura Hurd '05.

Â
Her strength and conditioning background extends past the college ranks and into the national realm as Martalock has worked extensively with USA Hockey under Mike Boyle, a pioneer in the field of strength and conditioning. Since 2008, Martalock has been involved with USA Hockey as a coach, strength and conditioning coach, and assisting in skill development.
