Kyle Mars joins the Elmira College coaching staff in his first season as the Assistant Men’s Volleyball Coach and the Head Women’s JV Volleyball Coach.
Mars comes to Elmira after spending four years as a member of the nationally acclaimed Penn State Men’s Volleyball Team, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Telecommunications. Serving primarily as an outside hitter, Mars was a part of four NCAA Final Four teams and one NCAA Runner-Up team. He played other positions for the Nittany Lions as well, serving as the libero, the setter, and also a right side hitter over his four-year career.
In addition to his playing experience, Mars brings years of knowledge and experience as a coach with him to the Soaring Eagle bench. He served as a coach for the Penn State Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Camps from 2010 to 2012 and also coached at the Penfield High School Volleyball Camp from May 2010 to August 2010. During both camps, Mars instructed mid-level teenagers in advanced volleyball skills, team drills, and weight lifting while also acting as the coach of his own team of 12-18 players, guiding them through practices and competitive camp tournaments.
Mars is pursuing his Master’s Degree in General Management at Elmira College.
