Daniel Miranda

Daniel Miranda, the 2017-18 United Collegiate Volleyball Conference (UVC) Coach of the Year, enters his sixth season with the Soaring Eagles in 2021-22. This season will mark Miranda's third at the helm of the Elmira College women's volleyball program after taking over for the legendary Rhonda Faunce.

In his first two seasons, Miranda helped rebuild the Purple and Gold to a 20-win team, while returning to the national rankings for a brief stint in 2018. EC earned a statement wins over No. 5 Dominican (Ill.) and No. 14 SUNY New Paltz in five sets, in addition to sweeping a pair of matches from longtime rival Nazareth. The Soaring Eagles earned a berth in the UVC Tourmament for the first time since 2015, helping Miranda earn the 2018 UVC Coach of the Year award.

Miranda comes to Elmira after spending a year as the head coach of the Genesee Community College women's volleyball team in Batavia, New York. During his tenure with GCC, Miranda helped the team register a 34-9-2 overall record and guided the Cougars to runner-up finishes at the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III Division III and the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Tournaments.  
 
Five GCC student-athletes received postseason honors at the conclusion of the 2015 season under the tutelage of Miranda. Two athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Region III First Team, while three others received honors from the WNYAC, including two All-WNYAC First-Team selections as well as an All-WYNAC Second-Team recipient.
 
Prior to his appointment with the Cougars, Miranda was the head coach of the Fairport High School Boy's Junior Varsity Team from 2013-14. Miranda also served as the head coach of the Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club, based out of Rochester, New York, from 2012-16.
 
While working with Pace, Miranda coached U-12, U-15, and U-16 teams. In addition to developing players at all three levels, his most recent work has been with the U-16 group, one that qualified for nationals at the first tournament of the year at the Rochester Can-Am Tournament. Additionally, his U-16 Pace Bootleggers finished within the top-five of each tournament it competed in leading up to the national tournament this past season.
 
Miranda is a 2012 graduate of Nazareth College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also stayed for another two years at Nazareth to receive a Master's of Science degree in Accounting.
 
During his undergraduate studies, Miranda spent four years as a member of the Nazareth men's volleyball team from 2009-12  and helped the Golden Flyers amass 105 victories, as well as four winning seasons. He was a member of the 2011 team that rattled off 22 consecutive wins to end the season with a 31-3 overall record en route to the Molten Division III National Championship.
 
Miranda played in 77 career matches for the Golden Flyers as a middle hitter and right-side hitter. He had a super-efficient career in terms of offensive production with 230 kills and a .377 attack-percentage (230k-70e-424att). Miranda was also a force on the defensive side of the ball with 127 career blocks on 22 solos and 105 block assists.
