Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's basketball team will make the trip to Clinton, NY tonight to take on non-conference opponent Hamilton College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
Off to a Fast Start
Despite suffering a 67-59 loss to St. Lawrence last time out, the Soaring Eagles started the game off strong with a 17-4 run.
Josh Keys '14 spearheaded the attack by knocking down three consecutive three-pointers in a 1:33 span. It was the best start to a game this season, and the best since opening the game on a 26-6 run against Alfred University on February 5th of last season.
Randolph Making It Rain
In his breakout season, Randolph is pouring in 19.5 points per game and currently sits second in the Empire 8 Conference, just 0.7 points behind the leader. He has scored 19 or more points in the past four games, including back-to-back 21 point games.
Randolph with 20-Plus
Randolph has scored 20 or more points in seven games so far this season, including one game with over 30 points. EC is 4-3 when Randolph scores over 20 points this season.
Randolph At the Charity Stripe
Randolph is shooting 84.6 percent from the free throw line, ranking him fourth in the Empire 8 Conference and 55th in the nation. He has made 77 free throws this season, tied for second in the E8, and is on pace to break the Elmira College season record for free throws made which was set by Len Smith '97 in the 1996-97 season.
Close Down Your Streets
Keys has hit 40 shots from downtown season, averaging 3.1 per game he leads the Empire 8 as well as 26th in the nation.
Closing In
Keys continues to chip away at his career total, now 226, he is only 23 away from first in EC men's basketball history. If Keys continues to average 3.1 three-pointers per game he is on pace to break the record against Stevens Institute of Technology on February 8th, on senior day.
Almost There
Keys also continues to inch closer to the 1,000-point mark in his career. At 925 career points he is on track to achieve this milestone against Hartwick College on February 7th, in Speidel Gymnasium.
Providing A Spark
Oladapo Badmos '17 played 15 minutes in just his second game as a Soaring Eagle and dropped eight points, dished out three assists and took down two rebounds off the bench. Badmos helped spark a 9-2 run that cut St. Lawrence's lead to four midway through the second half.
