ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles men's basketball team hosted the Wolves of Keuka College for an Empire 8 conference matchup inside Speidel Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The Soaring Eagles hit 15 three-pointers, but it wasn't enough, falling to Keuka College, 103-91.

The Wolves opened the scoring up with a layup on their first possession.
Alec Mercer hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions to put the Soaring Eagles on the board.
Kelton Brown and
Emmanuel Karkari-Mensah followed that up with threes of their own to cap off a 12-0 run for EC. The Wolves responded with a 9-2 run, cutting the Elmira advantage to one.
Daemon Thomas hit a three-pointer to slow down Keuka's momentum. Thomas hit another three-pointer a few minutes later, the sixth three for EC in the first nine minutes. Keuka answered EC with a 9-2 scoring run that gave them a 33-26 advantage.
Carter Seeberger made a three-pointer from the corner to give the Soaring Eagles some momentum back.
JJ Babcock followed up with a three-pointer of his own from the top of the arc. The Wolves responded again, this time with a 10-2 run, that put them up by 11. Brown hit a mid-range jumper off an inbound to bring the deficit back to single digits. Mercer hit a step-back three pointer, his third three of the first half, as EC continued to rack up baskets from beyond the arc. Elmira hit nine three pointers in the first half, compared to just six for Keuka, but the Wolves still held a 58-41 advantage at the conclusion of the first half.
The Soaring Eagles strong three-point shooting continued as
Tyler Cardello hit a three from the wing to start the second half. Brown followed up with a basket in the post as the second half offense started strong. The Wolves answered with a 7-0 scoring run to take the momentum back. Seeberger spun inside on a fastbreak, making a layup, scoring four consecutive points for EC.
Amin Ba-Ahmad hit a three pointer to slow down another Wolves run. Karkari-Mensah stole the ball off an inbound, adding a layup for Elmira, part of a 9-3 run.
Owen Evans hit a three pointer from the top of the arc as EC tried to get momentum back. Seeberger hit another three-pointer after getting a steal, part of a 7-0 run. Mercer hit another three-pointer, adding to the scoring run for EC. The Soaring Eagles tried to comeback, but time would eventually run out, Keuka holding a 103-91 advantage as the final buzzer sounded.
LEADERS
Offensively, Mercer led the way with 20 points, including four three-pointers and shooting a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line. Cardello scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Babcock scored six points and dished out seven assists.
