Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's basketball team will be out for revenge tomorrow as the Soaring Eagles hit the road to take on Empire 8 Conference foe St. John Fisher College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Manning & Napier Varsity Gymnasium in Rochester, NY.

Can't Catch a Break
For the second year in a row, the Soaring Eagles suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Hamilton College at the buzzer. Last season, Kurt Dutcher '14 saw his game-tying, buzzer-beating layup get waved off by the officials and earlier this week, a fall-away jumper from the Continentals' Matt Hart downed EC 85-83 in overtime.

Roaring Comeback
Despite the loss, the Purple and Gold showed what they were made of as a team, overcoming a 21-point second half deficit to force overtime. Matt Newell '14 and Jake Metcalf '15 sparked the EC comeback as the duo combined for a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to single-digits, swinging the momentum in Elmira's favor.

Five in Double Digits
Five Soaring Eagles scored double-digit points against Hamilton. Starters Neil Randolph '15, Josh Keys '14, and Matt Newell '14 had 19, 13, and 10 points respectively while EC received two 10-point efforts off the bench from Chris Cassidy '14 and Brian McDonald '15. This is the first time that five Elmira players have produced double-digits in the same game since December 13, 2008 against Hobart College.

Flirting With a Triple-Double
EC's do-it-all point guard, Derrick Vogel '14, has often filled up the stat sheet this season and his performance against Hamilton was no different. The senior scored nine points, grabbed six rebounds, and handed out six assists against the Continentals while not issuing a single turnover. Making his stat line more impressive is that Vogel played much of the second half and the entire overtime with four fouls.

Bench Production
The bench played a key role in the second half as EC made their comeback against Hamilton. Overall, the Elmira reserves outscored the Continental reserves 27-25, marking the sixth time this season EC's bench has out-produced the opponent's bench.

Taking Care of the Rock
Derrick Vogel '14 had his second game of the season without issuing a turnover against Hamilton after having five such games last year. On the season, Vogel has 54 assists and 32 turnovers for a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio, good enough to rank second in the Empire 8 in that category.

19-Plus in Five Straight
After pouring in 19 points against the Continentals, Neil Randolph '15 has now scored at least 19 points in five straight games.

Top-20 Shooter
Josh Keys '14 continues doing what he does best, hitting shots from distance. The senior is averaging 3.1 made three-pointers per game, placing him 20th in the nation in that category.

No. 1 in Sight
Keys continues to add to his career total of three-pointers made, raising the number to 229 after Tuesday's game. He now stands 20 three-pointers from tying Ryan Bennett '01 at the top of EC's all-time list.

1,000 Points Within Reach
Keys also continues to inch closer to the 1,000-point mark in his career. At 938 career points he is on track to achieve this milestone against Hartwick College on February 7th, in Speidel Gymnasium.
