2014 CWHL Draft
 
Elmira, NY -- For the second year in a row, an Elmira College women's ice hockey player has been selected in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) Draft.  Last year, Lauren Sullivan '13 was selected in the 10th round of the CWHL Draft, becoming the first player in Elmira's history to be drafted by a CWHL affiliated team.  This year, Tanis Lamoureux '14 became the second Elmira player to be drafted as she was picked up by the Toronto Furies, the same team that drafted Sullivan, with the 12th overall pick in the third round of this year's draft.
 
Lamoureux, an AHCA Second Team All-American a season ago, was the first NCAA Division III skater selected in this year's CWHL Draft and was one of just five NCAA Division III skaters to be drafted.  The Toronto Furies had two previous picks before choosing Lamoureux and used those picks to choose Megan Bozek, who won a silver medal at this past year's Olympic games as part of the United States Olympic team, and Kelly Terry from the NCAA Division I national runner-up University of Minnesota.
 
During her time as a Soaring Eagle, Lamoureux totaled 106 points on 44 goals and 62 assists.  Her 106 career points are seventh-most in Elmira history and her eclipsing of the 100-point mark made her just the eighth player in EC's storied history to accomplish that feat.  Lamoureux's name can also be found in several other spots in Elmira's record books as she ranks inside the top-10 in career assists, career power play goals, career game-winning goals, and career short-handed goals.
 
In her four years, Lamoureux helped guide the Purple and Gold to 81 wins, including two appearances in the NCAA Division III women's ice hockey tournament, and helped bring home Elmira College's third NCAA Championship in the 2012-13 season.
