Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team reopens ECAC West Conference play this weekend as the Soaring Eagles welcome conference foe, Manhattanville College, for a crucial two-game set. The first of two games is scheduled for tomorrow, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena in Pine Valley, NY.
Last Time OutElmira enter tonight's contest with an 8-5-3 overall record after picking up a come from behind victory against Salve Regina. The Soaring Eagles trailed 3-1 midway through the second period but three unanswered Elmira goals sealed a 4-3 win for the Purple and Gold.

Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 each scored a goal in the third period to lift EC past the Seahawks. For Elmira, it is the first time this season they have trailed entering the third period and still managed to skate away with a victory.
Belief in No. 10After finishing fourth on the team last year in points,
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 has stepped up his game in a big way in 2014-15 as the third-year talent leads Elmira in goals (8), assists (15), and points (23). Elmira's most consistent contributor this season, ten Vaanholt has registered points in 14-of-15 games this season and has posted a team-leading seven multi-point games.
Home vs. ECAC WestSince 1999-00, Elmira is 54-33-6 in regular season home games against ECAC West opponents. However, since 2012-13, Elmira has gone 7-10 against ECAC West teams at the Murray Athletic Center.
Scouting ManhattanvilleThe Valiants enter the weekend with a 6-6-4 overall record and a 1-4-1 mark in conference play. Manhattanville has struggled to find wins recently, posting a 1-2-2 record since the New Year with their only win during those five games coming against Wentworth Institute of Technology. One area the Valiants have seen success this season has been on the penalty kill. Manhattanville has successfully killed 51-of-59 power-play opportunities for an 86.4 percent success rate, the 12th-best percentage in the country. Stephen Gaul has enjoyed a successful rookie season, leading the Valiants with 12 points on six goals and six assists. His six goals are the most by any ECAC West Conference rookie and his 0.75 points per game makes him the top-scoring rookie in the conference as well.
