Elmira, NY -- The newly-voted No. 1 Elmira College women's ice hockey team will look to continue their winning ways during a home-and-home series against Buffalo State this weekend. EC first travels to their ECAC West Conference foe tomorrow, February 6th for a 4:00 p.m. game, then returns to play in the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Soaring Eagles went to Plattsburgh State last weekend and came away with a pair of ECAC West victories, winning 2-1 and then 6-2. Cassidy Delainey '15 scored the game-winning power-play goal in the third period of Saturday's game, and then Ashton Hogan '15 scored two shorthanded goals, one being the eventual game-winner, to put the Cardinals away for good on Sunday.

Make it 8 Straight
The weekend victories moved EC's current win streak to eight games and their unbeaten streak to 11 games. This is the fourth straight season that Elmira has strung together at least eight consecutive victories, with their longest win streak, which came in 2011-12, being 10 games.

Special Teams on Display
EC's power-play and penalty-kill units excelled at the Stafford Ice Arena over the weekend, scoring four total goals while limiting Plattsburgh to just two power-play goals in nine chances. Elmira maintained their ranking as the second-best power-play team in the nation, converting at a 31.6 percent rate, and moved into a tie for first nationally with six shorthanded goals.

Series History
EC and Buffalo State have met 33 times since the 2001-02 season with Elmira holding a 32-1-0 advantage in the all-time series. The Bengals upended the Soaring Eagles, 4-3 in overtime, in the 2010-11 season, but EC has won each of the six matchups since.

A Look at the Bengals
Buffalo State has already tripled their win total from a season ago, entering this weekend of play with records of 9-8-2 overall and 7-5-0 in conference play. The Bengals' offense is led by 20-goal scorer, Kara Goodwin, who is second in the nation, behind Ashton Hogan, in goals scored. The team-lead for assists belongs to freshman Erin Gehen, who can attribute 13 of her 18 points to assists. Look for newcomer Justine Silva to get the call in between the pipes as she has played 17 of 19 games, recording 400 saves and a 2.79 goals against average.
