ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's soccer team suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Empire 8 Conference-leading and fifth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology Sunday afternoon. Due to the torrential downpour that flooded the area over the weekend, the game was played at nearby Ernie Davis Academy.

Although the nationally-ranked Ducks, who clinched the No. 1 seed in the E8 Tournament with the victory, overwhelmed the Soaring Eagles, it was EC who recorded the first shots of the game. Fourth-year midfielder Maddie Miller '17 has a pair of quality looks in the third and fourth minutes, but the first was saved by Stevens goalie Lindsey Mahnken and the second sailed wide of the net.

The Ducks responded by scoring thrice in the ensuing three minutes, with one goal each in the fifth, sixth, and seventh minutes. Two of those tallies came off of the foot of reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year, Raba Nassif, who scored four times in the contest. Stevens led by six at the halftime intermission and scored three additional goals in the second half.

EC senior netminder Amanda Banner '17 earned the start between the pipes and finished with nine saves while playing just over 80 minutes.
