Â
The second game was a much closer affair, as the game stood scoreless through the first four innings of play. However, Morrisville's starting pitcher, Brittany Keator, was able to get out of both jams unscathed.
Â

Â
Morrisville looked to respond in the bottom half of the inning, putting runners on first and second with two outs. However, Carlin was able to get the next batter to hit a soft grounder to
Miranda Keefe '18, who tossed it over to Storch at third for the force out.
Â
Elmira tacked on another two runs in the sixth inning to take a 4-0 lead.
Maddy Johnson '19 reached on an error with one out, which allowed Keefe to score from third base and put speed on the corners for Elmira; Johnson at first and
Julianne Heggie '16 at third. Aggressive play on the base paths turned into another run for Elmira, as a steal by Johnson prompted a throwing error by the Morrisville catcher, allowing Heggie to score EC's fourth run of the game.
Â
With a four-run lead, Head Coach
Rhonda Faunce turned to her game one starter to close out the nightcap. McDougal entered the pitcher's circle in the sixth and retired six of the seven batters she faced over the next two innings, clinching a 4-0 win for the Soaring Eagles.
Â
In Her Own Words…
Head Coach
Rhonda Faunce shares her thoughts on EC's play this afternoon…
"We were solid on both sides of the ball today and Katie pitched really well today. Their pitchers were grooving the ball in there in the first game and we hit really well. Our hitters have been seeing the ball really well the last couple of days."
