ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's ice hockey team resumes its ECAC West Conference schedule tonight and Saturday, as the Soaring Eagles welcome Stevenson University and Lebanon Valley College to the Murray Athletic Center for a pair of league games. Elmira battles the Mustangs of Stevenson tonight at 7:00 p.m., while the Purple and Gold clash with the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley the following night at 7:00 p.m.
WEEKEND OVERVIEW
- After a two month break from conference play, the Soaring Eagles resume their ECAC West schedule with a pair of home games at the Murray Athletic Center against Stevenson and Lebanon Valley.
- Elmira is 5-3-1 in its last nine games, which includes a 4-2-0 record at the MAC. EC's last home game resulted in a 5-2 upset victory over former No. 13/14 ranked Salve Regina.
- Friday's meeting with Stevenson marks just the second all-time meeting between the two programs. It is also Head Coach Dominck Dawes first appearance at the MAC as the bench boss for Stevenson; Dawes is the former coach of Neumann.
PLAYOFF PUSH
- Although the 2016-17 ECAC West Tournament is still four weeks away, the playoff landscape will begin to be formed in the next few weeks, starting with this weekend's home games.
- Elmira sits in seventh place in the ECAC West standings and will need to pick up wins in its final eight games to crack the top-six for a postseason bid; only the top six teams qualify for this year's tournament.
- EC's lone conference win of the season came against last-place Lebanon Valley, 8-6. Two of Elmira's league losses have come in overtime by just one goal (Stevenson and Neumann).
STEVENSON AT A GLANCE
- The Mustangs head into the weekend in fifth place in the ECAC West standings with a 3-4-1 league record; Stevenson also owns an 8-8-2 overall record.
- Stevenson has dropped three straight heading into Friday's contest and has lost on average by 3.3 goals per game during that time.
- Junior Mike Davis leads the Mustangs with 16 points on six goals and 10 assists. A former ECAC West Rookie of the Year and All-Conference First-Team selection for Neumann, Davis sits on 69 career points (39g, 30a).
LEBANON VALLEY AT A GLANCE
- Lebanon Valley is still searching for its first league win of the season with an ECAC West record of 0-7-1 and an overall mark of 3-13-2. The Dutchmen are winless in their last five contests.
- The Dutchmen boast the conference's most lethal power-play unit with a 23.0-percent success rate (26-for-113); that mark ranks 19th in the country.
- Three Dutchmen have 20-plus points on the season, including the team's leading goal- and point-scorer, Cole Hepler. Hepler heads into the weekend with 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists.
