NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- The first round of action at the Utica College Invitational, hosted by the Pioneers at the Yahnundasis Golf Club, was suspended on Saturday evening due to darkness and will resume Sunday morning with the Elmira College women's golf team in fourth place.
The Soaring Eagles ended Saturday with a cumulative versus-par score of plus-80, which is four strokes better than fifth-place Nazareth College (+80) and four strokes behind third-place Keuka College (+76).
Individually, seniors
Meghan Fonfara '18 and
Audrey Clarke '18 both sit 11-over-par and are locked in a two-way tie for sixth place. Fonfara, who completed 15 holes before play was suspended, finished the front nine with a 7-over 44, including a birdie on the par-4 third hole. Clarke has played 14 holes and capped off the front nine with a 9-over-par 46. Her lone birdie came on the par-4 12th hole.
Classmate
Alyssa Ogden '18 (+20) leads the Purple and Gold with two birdies, both of which came on the front nine. She needed only three strokes on the par-4 fourth hole, before sinking a birdie on the par-5 eighth. Ogden has three holes remaining in her first round and will continue Sunday morning on the 17th.
Cassie Chun '18 (+38) and
Sarah Hiltbrand '19 (+45) each have two more holes to complete in the opening round on Sunday morning.
