HARTFORD, Conn. -- Multi-point performances from several members of the No. 3/3-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey team helped pave the way for a convincing 5-0 shutout victory on the road against Trinity College (Conn.). The win improved Elmira's road record this season to a perfect 8-0-0, as the Soaring Eagles concluded the non-conference portion of their schedule.
Elmira jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Bantams in the first seven minutes of regulation behind a pair of even-strength goals from
Maddie Evangelous '19 and
Jess Adams '21. Evangelous opened the scoring just 1:26 into the first period, her fourth tally of the season, on an assist from
Meghan Fonfara '18. Adams made it a two-goal advantage at the 6:55 mark by scoring her second goal in as many days on an assist by
Sarah Hughson '18.
The Soaring Eagles held onto their two-goal advantage heading into middle frame, before third-year forward
Maddy Jerolman '19 cushioned the Elmira lead at 3-0 with her seventh goal of the season. Jerolman's tally was registered at the 4:02 mark of the second stanza and was set up by
Kristin Chivers '19 and
Katie Granato '19, who were both credited with assists.
Elmira's offense kept clicking throughout the second period, as Fonfara got into the scoring mix by finding the back of the cage with just 51 seconds left in the period. Granato was credited with an assist on the tally, her second consecutive assist of the night, which helped Fonfara collect her second point of the evening.
Tonight's scoring ended with a Hughson tally at the 9:03 mark of the third frame on assists from Evangelous and rookie blueliner
Sydney Harris '21. The score from EC's leading scorer put a close to the night, as the Soaring Eagles skated away with a five-goal win and improve to 14-2-1 on the season.

Kelcey Crawford '18 made 19 saves in a shutout effort, the fifth such win of her senior season. Crawford made seven saves in the first two periods, before closing out the night with five stops. Her counterpart from Trinity, Kai-Lilly Karpman, also finished with 19 saves in 60 minutes of action.

"It was nice to get a win to finish off our non-conference games. We wanted to finish off the non-conference slate strong and we did so tonight. Now we can look towards conference play and work towards our conference goals."
