The Elmira College men's lacrosse team was unable to find its footing tonight against the No. 14-ranked Ducks of the Stevens Institute of Technology, as the Soaring Eagles suffered a 22-1 loss in Empire 8 Conference action under the lights at nearby Notre Dame High School.

Stevens quickly showed why it is currently ranked in the top 15 of Division III men's lacrosse, as it showcased stellar play throughout the night. The advantage began in the faceoff circle, with the Ducks winning 23 of 26 draws. The added possession resulted in a 52-to-7 advantage for Stevens in shots and allowed the visitors to score the first 13 goals.

For the Soaring Eagles, their lone score of the day came from beautiful transition play from Kevin DiMagno '20. The sophomore brought the ball quickly up the field and found a streaking Jacob Magnoli '18, who then volleyed the pass past Stevens' keeper Jack Braswell.

In addition to handing out the assist on EC's goal, DiMagno also scooped up a game-high seven ground balls. The Fairport, New York, native was also Elmira's best faceoff player, as he won all three of the team's successful draws.

In goal, Jacob Mattice '21 played the first three quarters and posted his third consecutive game with double-digit saves with 10. After missing a good portion of the season due to an injury, junior Matt Marchal '19 made his first appearance of 2018, playing 4:09 in the fourth quarter.
