ONEONTA, N.Y. --
The Elmira College men's lacrosse team was unable to find its offense against the challenging Hawks of Hartwick College today, as the Soaring Eagles suffered a 14-1 loss at the hands of their feathered foes. The bout took place at Hartwick's Wright Stadium in Oneonta, New York.

The difference in today's contest came down to turnovers, as the Soaring Eagles committed 32, compared to the Hawks' 22. This added possession led to extra chances for the home team, as it owned a 25-to-9 advantage in shots on goal. On the other hand, Elmira kept its deficits in faceoffs (10-to-8) and successful clears (12-to-9) close.

Hartwick started the contest on fire by scoring the first 12 goals in a run that finally ended in the fourth quarter. Nevin Olney '18 scored EC's lone goal of the day at the 6:53 mark of the fourth. He ended the bout as Elmira's only player to score a point, as EC's eight other shots on goal were all turned away.

Sophomore Kevin DiMagno '20 continued his impressive sophomore campaign by leading the Soaring Eagles with six ground balls. DiMagno also led the team with five faceoff wins, going 5-for-9 on the afternoon.

Elmira played three goalies in the contest, with Jacob Mattice '21 playing 45 of the 60 minutes. The Canton, New York, native led his peers with 10 saves, his fourth straight game with 10-plus stops. Junior Matt Marchal '19 came in and played a season-high 11:08 minutes of relief in his second appearance of the year.
