Men’s Tennis Tripped Up By Houghton in Tuesday Night Conference Tilt

The Elmira College men's tennis team fell on the road this evening to Houghton College, the Empire 8 Conference's second-place team, by a 9-0 final score. With the win, Houghton moved one step closer to clinching the second seed in the 2018 E8 Tournament, while the Soaring Eagles were eliminated from postseason contention.
 
Houghton flexed its muscle in the doubles portion of today's match, winning 24-of-26 games in the process of winning all three matches. The Highlanders earned 8-0 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, while EC's No. 2 tandem of Yaniv Kogan '18 and Jordan Curtis '19 picked up the only two games in an 8-2 setback.
 
The singles portion of the match was also a one-sided affair, as the Highlanders marched away with straight-set victories at all six positions. Patrick Tracey '18 and Curtis had the closest matches of the six contests that took to the court today. Tracey fell at first singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Curtis dropped his match by a 6-0, 6-3 score.
