ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's basketball team fell on the road in a high-scoring Empire 8 Conference matchup on Tuesday evening, as the league-leading Golden Flyers of Nazareth College captured a 124-88 victory over the Soaring Eagles.

EC had a solid night shooting the ball going 34-for-70 (48.6%) from the floor and hitting 11-of-25 (44.0%) from deep. However, the Soaring Eagles were unable to keep pace with Nazareth's potent attack. Led by a 31-point performance from Tyler Stenglein, the Golden Flyers shot 49-for-69 (71.0%) from the floor and knocked down 14-of-23 (60.9%) from 3-point range.

Elmira had a quartet of players finish in double figures, led by Henry Cuffee '19, who tallied 17 points off of the bench. Jesse Adelson '20 added 16 points, while Justin Porrett '19 and Isiah Charles '21 rounded out the scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Nazareth was able to jump on EC early, as the Golden Flyers opened the game on a 13-to-1 run. Charles eventually halted the run and kick-started EC's offense with a make near the 17 minute mark. The Purple and Gold responded with a 14-to-0 run of their own that featured eight points from Cuffee to pull back within four at 18-14. EC traded blows with Nazareth for the remainder of the opening half, but the early deficit proved crucial as the Golden Flyers' hot shooting sent them into the break with a 60-41 lead.

The second half featured more of the back-and-forth as Nazareth's offense showed no signs of slowing despite EC forcing the Golden Flyers into five turnovers. The Soaring Eagles turned to Adelson and Porrett to carry the scoring load in the final period of play. Adelson poured in 11 points, nine of which came from downtown, while Porrett registered 10 of his 12 points in the second half. The duo's scoring antics were not enough however, as the Golden Flyers offense carried them to a victory.
